Common Ground Education Foundation Mission Statement

Common Ground Education Foundation was shaped and molded by the collective vision of a diverse group of trade unionist and labor leaders from across the country. CGEF seeks to fulfill the needs of the youth and underserved communities throughout the state and beyond with our mentoring, educational, and community service programs. Education and mentoring throughout this century have courageously and unremittingly continued to build a movement that will bring all our strengths and varied talents to bear in the unending effort to achieve a well-educated community.
* The basic objectives of CGEF are reflected in its activities and projects.

* We promote pathways to self-sufficiency and economic empowerment by fostering engaging and empowered union and non-union workers. We do this by:

*  Developing leadership skills.

* Supporting the unique needs of minority workers and all who have been disproportionately impacted by despairing outcomes in the workplace (or workplace discrimination).

* Providing access to high quality, low-cost professional development and networking opportunities.

* CGEF promotes pathways and works to assure a pipeline of diverse talent among union and non-union leaders and workers.

* Actively support diversity and inclusion, while working with civic groups to improve living and working conditions for all.

* Mentoring and teaching the community on political issues, and how it affects your rights in the workplace and community (from the bread box to the ballot box)

* Providing financial literacy to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve financial stability and make sound financial choices throughout their lives.

* Providing a safe place for the youth, while introducing responsibility and empathy through community service, fundraising and education of all trades. 

* Clearly, as Common Ground Education Foundation continues to evolve and grow, our best days are yet to come. Our rich history and experience as leaders and contributions have yet to be written. The desire, passion, and dedication of everyone to a collective goal and shared vision are powerful and rewarding. All CGEF Educational Conferences are open to everyone to enjoy, learn, and network.
